After Beerus goes on a rampage after being angered during Bulma's birthday party, Goku unlocks the Super Saiyan God transformation so he is able to fight on Beerus' level although Goku ultimately decides to forfeit the fight, he is able to calm Beerus down and earns both Beerus and Whis' respect, with the latter even personally inviting both Goku and Vegeta to be trained alongside Beerus at multiple points in the series. He awakens after a long slumber after dreaming of the 'Super Saiyan God' who would defeat him in battle and heads to King Kai's planet to investigate, only to encounter Goku, who would challenge him. He later frequently appears as a major supporting character throughout the remaining arcs of Dragon Ball Super.įrequently accompanied by Whis, his attendant and personal instructor, Beerus is very short-tempered and known to go on planet-destroying rampages at only the slightest of annoyances. He makes his first appearance as the main antagonist of the film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, but does not make his first canonical appearance until the God of Destruction Beerus saga of Dragon Ball Super, which is a retelling of the events of the aforementioned film.
